The Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) is a minimally invasive hip replacement technique that provides faster recovery, less pain, and improved mobility compared to traditional methods. By accessing the hip joint from the front, DAA preserves surrounding muscles, minimizes tissue damage, and promotes a quicker return to daily activities.
Unlike conventional hip replacement techniques that require cutting through major muscles, DAA allows surgeons to work between muscle groups, leading to reduced trauma, minimal scarring, and a lower risk of complications. This technique is particularly beneficial for active individuals seeking a swift return to their normal lifestyle with enhanced joint function and long-term durability.

Any hip replacement surgery carries some risk element. These risks are rare but can unfortunately occur at times: Fracture, nerve damage, dislocation, infection, limb length inequality, blood clots in the leg (thrombosis).

For surgery with the DAA THR (Direct Anterior Approach), we do not impose the above restrictions and most patients are able to walk comfortably and sit on the floor a few months after the surgery.
